Glitchapon Machine
"In this capsule is a glitch pokémon – an uncanny creature generated from unstable game data and extracted from Pokémon Red and Blue Versions. Below the image is its name and the index number which calls it into existence. Pokémon was inspired in part by Japanese gatchapon machines, which randomly dispense small collectable toys for a microtransactional price. Glitchapon dispenses an incomplete set of broken creatures with nonsensical or unspeakable identifiers, and forms that either manifest as doppelgangers of recognizable creatures or as a random arrangement of pixels. These entities are appropriated from the games and by that metric still function as pokémon in some ways. However, unlike the licensed characters of the franchise, glitch pokémon are capable of destabilizing collection, classification, and commodification – core mechanics deeply ingrained in all pokémon-related media."
